The Valley County Board Summit
There are six parts to the Valley County Board Summit Videos. I would encourage you to view them and take some notes. For the most part, some good ideas on how County, city and school boards can work together to save costs on everything from gravel to equipment. Theres also some remarks that may cause concern regarding our drinking water quality here in Ord, the use of Eminent Domain to remove "eye sore" properties, requiring businesses to have "Approved Facades" and cleaning up properties on main street that don't quite live up to the image Ord wants to present. Those of you in Valley County not located in Ord might want to pay special attention to what he says about school consolidation. That is already starting to happen on its own, just ask North Loup.
Ord Nebraska is not South Sioux City by a long shot. They have 12,000 plus in a slowly growing economy, Ord has a shrinking population that is aging and regardless of the cities best efforts, businesses are not breaking down the doors to relocate here. South Sioux City also has a large transient Hispanic population courtesy of the packing industry and due to our location that is a type of business Ord is not likely have anytime in the near future.
Pay attention to who asks the questions and some of the comments made. One of my favorites was that there are some people that just don't get along (I'm paraphrasing here). I hope they realized that their particular board was one of the major causes of hate and discontent in the county, but, probably not. Maybe someday we can all just get along and perhaps this board summit is a good place to start.
Heres some interesting (to some) information on GLVA and its part in the New Housing project. Not really my cup of tea but I'm certain there are some interesting tidbits in there if you dig deep enough and know what you are looking at when you find it.

Admin, I appreciate the coverage. Information is very interesting. Problem is I don't see how we can move forward with anything until the boards that cause so much hate and discontent are changed. It takes trust to be able to work together, and some of the players are simply not trustworthy.
