Special School Board MeetingUPDATE!
SCHOOL BOARD CAVES TO TEACHERS UNION, VOTES TO OFFER ALEXANDER THE JOB AND LEAVE STEFFENSEN SWINGING IN THE BREEZEThe school board voted at noon today to offer Jason Alexander the job of superintendent and reneged on its offer of employment to Kendall Steffensen. Steffensen had resigned his job at Shelton Public Schools on Monday last after the Ord School board offered him the job. Both economic and public pressure was put on school board members to change their decision. The reason given by the board was that Mr. Alexander was not given a fair hearing by the board because of its lack of a nepotism policy. The question was asked whether the board now had a nepotism policy in the light of Mr. Alexander being offered the job of superintendent....the answer is still NO. Pay special attention to Lana Kohlers comments to the board and to Marty Petskas response. Video of the meeting will be up sometime late this afternoon. Admin. A reminder: Anyone who fails to comply with our terms of use may lose their posting privilege. I would like to be the first to congratulate the teachers union on their takeover of the school system. Well Done!!! What a bad situation..it wouldn't have been so bad if they hadn't offered the job to the other guy first. I would hope that the board ask for Wendy's resignation as the science teacher but I would guess this wouldn't happan Let me see if I understand Petska correctly. They needed to apologize for not following their board "nepotism" policy better, when first interviewing Mr. Alexander. That is the policy that didn't exist then and still doesn't exist today. Right!!! Somebody ought to notify the school's liability underwriter. I smell a lawsuit in the air. Just a reminder-Even though the OPS had a nepotism policy for the school board, Classan was on the board and his wife worked for OPS. Didn't follow that one too close either. INTEGRITY - adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty. Repeatedly I have heard Jason Alexander should have the superintendent's job because he did so well in promoting the school bond. Whatever happened to qualifications? Obviously Stevenson's qualifications and experience exceeded Alexander's. Alexander promises more of the same, lousy teachers at OPS with a big gymnasium and more big expeditures for the future. No surprise. The Board caved to special interests. The payoffs for passage of the bond continues and the opportunity for community reconciliation just walked out the door.
As long as nepotism isn't in the policy, the practice of nepotism is OK for this board. They have reached a new low and the rest of the state as well as our kids are learning the example. This is a sad day for Ord.
The school is getting the same reputation as the hospital.
The only one with any vision and "balls" in this group is a woman.
Petska's explaination for the doublecross of Stephensen isn't fooling anyone. When Alexander and the teachers say "JUMP" this boards response is "How High".
