School Board April 11, 2011

The Obligatory School Board Meeting...or, How I Learned to Love Higher Taxes.

What it boils down to is that Max will be asking for a higher tax levy to meet the shortfall from the state. He budgeted for $400,000.00 and the state failed to come through with $806,000.00 of other peoples (as well as yours and my) tax dollars.

The board also voted to keep the public from using the weight room as things disappeared over Christmas vacation. The staff and teachers will of course be allowed to keep using the facility as they can always be trusted to act in their best interests. Aw the perks.... What is good for the goose is apparently not always good for the gander.

On a brighter note, I got a personal tour from Mr. Hagge of the construction of the library and classrooms. Very very nice. No sarcasm here, the town should have a first class facility when this is over and done with. I will hold off on any caustic remarks until the piper asks his due, but from what I saw and what Mr. Hagge explained to me, it is going to be a first rate physical presence in our little corner of Nebraska.
