The Markowski Affair, Version 2.0: Comments

<<Back to article

Shakes - Thursday, May 13 2010 at 11:47am

Wow, Steffan. You brush over using a video of Nazis to prove a point, but again bring up how oppressed you are in a community of around 2000 people. Poor you! How dare we try to slap anyone on the wrist for using such a "joke" to prove a point. No wonder Democrats think Tea Party supporters are a bunch of intolerant bigots who hate anyone who isn't like them. They are looking directly at comments like the ones you are making!

steffan baker - Thursday, May 13 2010 at 12:25pm

Shakey! Never been oppressed! Don't feel sorry for myself either, goes against my nature. As for Tea Party, You Betcha! I am. Its corruption on any level of govt. that needs to be addressed. I can't do a lot about Washington (except vote!), the State (except vote!) but on a local level we have made a difference. I would think any citizen who reads the Constitution of the United States and doesn't abide by political corruption would be eager to see govt. cleaned up, even local govts. that run towards cronyism. Eventually the buzzards will come home to roost (so to speak) and we will self level until the next batch of socialist good old boys come around. Study your local history Shakey, it might surprise you how often this has happened in the past in this community. I give it about 4 more years before it all drops in the pot and we see what "split community" really means.

ordneb - Thursday, May 13 2010 at 2:11pm

Clay, obviously I do know you better than you know yourself, or you are being disingenuous when you profess to have transferred your interest in OrdTalk months ago. It took you all of 90 minutes to read my post and respond. Sounds real disinterested to me!

Steffan,
I would have to agree with Shakes on this one...Nice try! You can whine, cry, shift attention, change direction, open old wounds, whatever you wish. It's your site. But the truth remains and you have failed to address it. Using a video of Hitler and the Nazi's to satire Paul Markowski is just plain wrong. It's not only unChristian, it's unAmerican as well. How dare you?

Lastly, you must recognize and take responsibility for a large portion of the "split" you refer to in this community. There are proper, civil, decent, and moral avenues to combat the status quo. This is America and majority rules. If you don't like it, move on people (your words). You spout your rhetoric and denigrate the "other side" for their tactics but then you stoop even lower. Perhaps your pastor hasn't taught you about taking the "high road". Further, if you think that this county is split 50/50 with only 100 or so on the "winning side" you are as delusional as your followers. I will grant you that the voting results might indicate that, but it is a twisted logic and false truth that interprets the results at the polls as a true representation of every single person who resides here. The sources you use to support your arguments will only be valid when 100% of the people, every man, woman and child, makes their voice heard. Until then, you'll just have to learn to accept defeat, get your head out of the John Birch magazines and grow up. Sheesh.

Don't feel sorry for yourself???? Give me a break.

The ball's in your court now. Whine away!

steffan baker - Thursday, May 13 2010 at 2:38pm

Yep, its all my fault nebby. You nailed it, you da man! And if you could point out those "followers", by name, I could use them for the mailing list.

As for defeat, not familiar with the word, setback maybe. I can look myself in the mirror in the morning and know that I don't have to hide behind a fake name to take potshots at other people. Can you say the same? I suppose not. It must really gall you knowing you don't have the courage to stand up and come out in the daylight and back up your words and deeds with your own name because of what others might think. You throw names around like " un-Christian" and "un-American", I don't think you know what it means to be a Christian or an American, not a judgement on my part, just an opinion based on our past conversations on this site. There will be a judgement someday though and I have someone who will stand between me and that judgement. Do you?

OrdFF - Thursday, May 13 2010 at 4:28pm

It has been awhile...but I could not help myself.

Whether you agree or not with the comments/actions about Mr. Markowski this has to be some of the more creative Political Satire that I have ever seen.

If you don't get my point please watch the exact same video with a little different twist...

watch

OrdFF - Thursday, May 13 2010 at 4:31pm

The Markowski defense team - shakes & ordneb. Markowski's idea of an OJ stile defense dream team...?

ordneb - Thursday, May 13 2010 at 5:20pm

It's quite interesting that I've been lumped in with supporters of Mr. Markowski. I don't recall ever expressing any comments about the situation. Yet, because I have spoken out against Saint Stephen, it is automatically assumed that I must be part of the "big tax crowd". I couldn't possibly be upset over anything poor Mr. Baker says, no matter how low he stoops, unless I was part of the "other side." That's certainly not judgmental. Opining that I am neither Christian nor American is also not judgmental.

I wonder how long I could fly a Nazi flag in front of my house before someone complained? I'll venture a guess that Mr. Patriotic himself, Cowboy Steff would lead the parade to throw the first All American, Christian inspired firebomb at my home. Yessiree. Way to address the comments I made, face the truth, and stay on the topic at hand there, Steffie.

BTW, when Sting and the rest of your cronies publish their names on this site, then so will I. Oh wait, I'm the only one who has to do that. No double standards here!!!!!!

Whine on brother. Jesus is lovin' this.

rock - Thursday, May 13 2010 at 5:32pm

Sting Are you saying his defense team knows he's guilty? His defense team is attempting to make the taxpayers, the guilty parties here because we are tired of having our tax money stolen? If you worked at P&P or Casey's, you filled your car with gas took off without paying for it, is that a perk or is that a theft? Is this Markowski affair any different?

admin - Thursday, May 13 2010 at 5:36pm

Thank you OrdFF, I wish I could take credit for it, and I agree, it is creative and like good satire, hits close to home. I was going to post the other video myself until I watched about the first 15 seconds of it. It is NOT SAFE FOR WORK or really any other place that it could be overheard. The F word is about every other word and I'm really not sure whether the author was a disgruntled Husker fan or one from Viginia poking fun at disgruntled Husker Fans. It is however another facet of the same video clip being used for satire.

ordneb, if it makes you feel more at home to fly the Nazi flag in front of your house, by all means, do so. I will disagree with your reasons but I will stand up for your right to do it. Until you decided to go after some of my Jewish friends (since you brought up Cowboy Steff, my manager in Nashville was Jewish and also managed Dr. Hook)I wouldn't care if you flew your underwear up the flag pole.

As for your name, you know my email, my numbers in the phone book, no need to publish it on the web. Call me 'bro!

irish one - Thursday, May 13 2010 at 7:38pm

Ordneb stay on topic. Here's a clue, it's not all about you. The topic is/was Markowski's stealing/theft. Quit being such a whiny pud.

Mr. Universe - Thursday, May 13 2010 at 9:04pm

I have watched the video on the previous page concerning the shed that was bought after it was supposedly already owned. Do the city workers who helped remove that shed from the property realize that they could have been arrested for felony theft? My understanding of the situation after speaking to the owner of the property is that after 30 days it reverted back to him as abandoned property. They came and got it what, six months later? I think they owe somebody a big thankyou for paying off what could have resulted in a criminal conviction.

rock - Friday, May 14 2010 at 10:16am

Mr. Universe to carry your comment one step further...
Markowski claimed his wife spoke to the new owner of the M Street property two weeks prior to the building moving incident. The new owner of the M Street property says that is not true. Markowski's creditability continues to crumble.

jab_gone - Friday, May 14 2010 at 10:30am

Apparently none of you that have gone to great links to cut, ridcule, and joke have ever had or done something that wasn't quite what the public would call the correct way..otherwise you wouldn't be doing what you are doing. There are channels on how to handle a situation like this without name calling, joking, etc. To compare someone to a nazi is in poor taste and unprofessional..

sting - Friday, May 14 2010 at 10:43am

Bottom line Markowski stole the shed involving the "boys" using city owned equipment, tries lying his way out of it. Chief Miller wasn't buying it and permitted the perpetrator to make restitution to the victim. Markowski then refers to Chief Miller and the victim as low lifes. O'Brien sits quietly back permitting this to go on at the city board meeting.

Mr. Universe - Friday, May 14 2010 at 2:19pm

Who's being compared to a Nazi? This is just Hitlers own opinion on the doings in Ord, what could be more appropriate?

sweetpea - Tuesday, May 18 2010 at 2:23pm

I drove by Susan's Kids Zone. I see PMS has'nt trimmed any of the trees there. Some look like they are leaning and could fall into street. Rock, did the mayor or PMS say when they were going to trim those trees? Is PMS going to have to pay the city back for his tree trimming or use of city equipment?

rock - Tuesday, May 18 2010 at 2:50pm

Sweetpea, No dangerous tree removal on Q Street or 11th Street is being done by the city crews as of yet. Mayor O'Brien says that PMS removes trees all over the city that pose a danger to the public on public right of ways. I am sure that sometime we will be seeing some activity soon. In my view the dangerous trees are on the city right of way and need to be completely cut down, not just trimmed. I am told that there is a power struggle between Mayor O'Brien and PMS, as to who is in charge of the city. I am told PMS is sulking over the recent spotlight that has been put on him and he is refusing to cut the trees down on Q Street and 11th Street. As to PMS reimbursing the city for his personal tree trimming job at his income producing rental property, I have not heard anything. Considering the mayor's statement that there was no power lines involved in the tree trimming of PMS income producing rental property, I am sure that the mayor will require reimbursement. We will just have to wait and see if Mayor O'Brien can address the Markowski Affair and what the mayor's legacy will be.

sweetpea - Wednesday, May 19 2010 at 12:37pm

All mommies in town need to start calling Mayor O'Brien. Tell him to get PMS down there to cut the trees down before the limbs-trees break. There are 5-6 leaning that could fall down and hurt someone. Parents haul their kids back and forth to the daycare alot. They park on that street every weekday. O'Brien shouldn't wait for some child to get hurt before he sends PMS and his crews to cut them down. Let's keep calling the mayor until the trees get cut down.
