The Markowski Affair: Comments

Sting - as far as the name calling, QUIT BEING A HYPOCRITE!!! How many times in the past have you called someone degrading names? (when everyone knew who you were talking about or you named them) As far as my name-calling in this case, I admitted that was wrong of me and apologized. If Schafer reads this, then he sees I apologized for it, if not then he wouldn't have known about it in the first place.

As far as your comment about implementing change: DUH! I just said twice now to make Markowski pay for everything and publicly reprimand him and he should by then realize he can't get away with any more. The only thing I'm disagreeing with you is that I don't think he needs to be fired just for a few people in town to prove a point.

Other than saying that on two previous occasions, I haven't commented anything about Markowski. Maybe this is where you are confused. The whole thing about saying Schafer maybe should've helped instead of videotaping has nothing to do with the right/wrong in the Markowski deal. All I'm saying is there are a bunch of hypocrites on here that want to talk about being good to your neighbor, but won't actually help their neighbor in a time of need, like when one's dogs are missing.

I'm sure you'll keep reading way too far into it, so here's a summary:

1.) Punish Markowski, but don't fire him, and move on with this ordeal in the back of the council's minds.

2.) Instead of TALKING about being good to your neighbor, actually HELP your neighbor when they need it instead of standing there with a camera.

You keep acting like I'm dismissing Markowski from being punished, but I'm not. I just didn't have much else to add to the conversation as far as how wrong he was, so I didn't, but did move on to another topic addressing a different person.

Shakes
Your apology is hollow and insincere as you are... Your name calling had malicious intent given your own comment. "Because of our personal history..." This is your idea<strong> of neighbor helping neighbor? Is this <strong>your example of neighbor helping neighbor? What was it you wrote...quit being a hypocrite!!!

How do you know that the person (you have an axe to grind with...the one you call pipsqueak) didn't go and help look for the dogs?

Hot Air, you sure have alot of that.

Shakes said, "...but instead of cutting someone off from their livelihood (and possible putting them on unemployment or some other government aid)..."

Shakes, I would not worry too much that Markowski would end up on government aid, he has 5-6 rental income producing properties. It is also my understanding that he owns a Mercedes and a GMC Denali he could always sell.

As far as being good neighbors; we all have been good neighbors to Markowski. We just did not know it...it's been coming out of our taxes for a long time. How much more of a good neighbor can we be?

rock - Thursday, May 6 2010 at 10:48pm

Did anyone notice the BIG asprin bottle in front of the mayor on the table, along with a bottled water to wash them down with? Looks like he was well prepared for a Markowski induced headache.

Shakes - Friday, May 7 2010 at 9:00am

rock - are you sure that aspirin wasn't because of you? Again, with the good neighbors thing, the ONLY situation I was talking about was helping find the dogs. We're talking about two different things. I'm talking about being a good neighbor to someone and you are trying to justify being a bad neighbor by saying he deserves it. Wow, makes it sound an awful lot like you can't bring yourself to be the bigger person and just say, "yeah, he probably could've helped."

Sting - You can say all you want that I'm insincere or blah, blah, blah, but I was sorry I said it, so I apologized. If he wants to condemn me for it, so be it, but why would you (someone who has done more name-calling and thrown more false accusations around than anyone) go and condemn me for doing the same thing you have done, yet expect not to be called on it? To the question of how do I know he didn't help? I asked a neighbor who did help.

Funny how shakes tries to take the high road after he gets his foot in his mouth. Funny how shakes wants to keep diverting attention from the Markowski Affair. What's up with that?

No shakes, I am not sure the aspirin was not because of me. There is one sure way to keep me from going to the city board. Mayor O'Brien provides the leadership to the City of Ord that they deserve. Had I had some slight inclination that Mayor O'Brien was going to address this issue, rather than just ignore it and let business go on as usual I would not have bothered.

Your comment,..."move on with this in the back of the council's mind," is business as usual. That is not exceptable. If this issue is going to be addressed as business as usual, then Mayor O'Brien is going to need a bigger bottle of asprin.

rock - Friday, May 7 2010 at 10:26am

Only within the boundaries of shake's mind could one find that I said,..."you are trying to justify being a bad neighbor by saying he deserves it." (Quote by shakes) In the light of reality, where most of us live...I never said any such thing.

Shakes

You say there's trash posted on Ord Talk, but you keep reading and posting (your version of trash). You use this site to trash people by calling them names like pipsqueak, while using their given name. A very brave person or whatever you are shakes. Shakes says he's not a Markowski supporter in this case. That's really hard to distinguish with your ramblings. Shakes, the Markowski Affair isn't in the far gone past! It's in the present time even though you, Markowski and the mayor would like it to be in the far gone past.

Shakes substance abuse counciling will help you with your issues.

Low life...Low life...? You arrogant a@@ PMS. While your driving around in your Mercedes collecting your slum lord rent, why don't you stop by Edna Whitmores to reimburse her the money she paid to get her trees out of the power lines & her sidewalk.

Where was this so-called mayor when PMS was calling the Chief of Police a low life... O'Brien didn't call him down for that now did he? Like falcon said, "Those that are overlooking things that need correction makes one just as guilty." Where was PMS integrity and character when he slandered the chief, calling him a low life, and O'Brien for letting him get away with it.

05alum - Friday, May 7 2010 at 10:36pm

Rock,

I just wanted to point out that Paul says that the crew broke branches coming up in the middle of the tree that were 12-18 feet and 20-25 feet in the air, and ALSO a branch that was towards his house. He doesn't say that the 12-18 dead branch was towards his house.

As for the pictures of the equipment, I don't see any defining marks that say "City of Ord." Am I just missing these marks or how do you know without a doubt that this was Ord's equipment and not like Paul said (referring to the maintainer) someone he hired? I am not saying that he isn't guilty of stealing or that he is, I am just curious.

I do believe that Paul was calling the owner of the property a low life and not the police chief. I do have a question about the shed, however. Did this incident just occur or was it some time ago?

Shakes - Saturday, May 8 2010 at 11:30am

rock - To put this as clearly as possible: I agree with you that something needs done on this, however, I don't think he needs to be fired to accomplish change. There, I'm done with the Markowskie deal.

The other comments I have been making are talking about you and some others who have slandered others saying they were trying to "pit neighbor against neighbor" and that everyone would get along if it weren't for those people (board members, certain business people, etc.). My beef in this case is that there is a perfect case of neighbor against neighbor on the front page here (as far as not helping find the dogs, not the trying to catch him part), yet because it helped you prove a point and make your argument, it was somehow okay that he didn't put the camera down after a few seconds, which is all he would've needed, and help in the search for his NEIGHBOR'S dogs. I may be making a bigger deal out of it than it needs to be, but that's partly because you have been falsely assuming this whole time that my argument means I am on Markowski's side. Nope, just strongly opposed to you turning a blind eye to someone violating principles you CLAIM to adhere to.

Sting - Say something worth listening to and maybe someone will listen. For now, sticking to the whole "drug/alcohol" thing with me is just making you look dumber by the day (if that was possible).

rock - Saturday, May 8 2010 at 12:48pm

05 alum, Please go back and listen to the tape again. I believe you will find your answers. What Markowski said was the branch was 12 to 18 in. tree limb (holding his hands up in a circle), 20 to 25 feet in the air. This is the branch towards his house that Markowski talks about cutting back to the tree (that if it had broken it could have hit his house). This is the 3rd tree from the NORTH as described by Markowski. The power line runs between the 1st and 2nd trees. Take a look at the 1103 G Street property and the 1105 G Street property, like the mayor did and I am sure you will come up with the same statement as he said to me the tree trimming did not involve any power lines, just a telephone line. The mayor added the city has nothing to do with the telephone lines. The tree trimming for 1105 G Street (Edghill) was done 1 year before at Mr. Edghill's request Markowski stated. Finding City of Ord on the trucks is a moot point, since Markowski admitted he sent the crews down there after picking up dead limbs on a Saturday. Markowski attempted to cloud the tree trimming of his property this year by saying he was requested by Mr. Edghill to trim the trees from the power lines (which both the request, and Mr. Edghill's job was perfomed last year, NOT this year). There is no evidence to support Markowski's claim. Whoever the utilities superintendent was calling a low life, Chief of Police or the new owner of the M Street property; this is an unprofessional way to act, and was prompted by Markowski having to pay $200 for this garage shed (that he removed from the property) or the police investigation. When did this incident occur, I don't know. More importantly, what equipment was used to move the building?

rock - Saturday, May 8 2010 at 1:06pm

The Bohemuth School Tour Bus came down Q (not O) Street yesterday afternoon about 3:30 - 4:00 o'clock hitting the overhanging trees between 10th & 11th. When sufficient damage occurs to the mega bucks bus, what tax payers money will be used to repair or replace the bus? School district money or the city's? As I have previously asked if Superintendent Markowski is done trimming the trees at his rental income producing property, could the mayor and the city council consider directing Superintendent Markowski to trim the overhanging trees on Q Street (not O) between 10th & 11th and between Q (not O) and P Streets.

Better yet remove the trees, in my view these trees are on the city right of way.

rock - Saturday, May 8 2010 at 7:58pm

This is a response to a question that was asked on the viral vent page and a continuation of a previously asked question on this page.

05alum, Ok...I won't refer you back to the tape since you have watched it three times. To quote Markowski beginning at 3:59, "I was down there picking up limbs on a Saturday. I looked up into the trees there...and there was big...12 by...12 to 18 inch tree limbs growing up in the middle of the tree. If you go down there it's the 3rd tree from the north." Quote ending at 4:16.

I clearly heard the word inches...not feet. Admittedly, I am getting older, I may not hear as well as I used to, but I am sure that the word inches is spoken as opposed to feet. The difference is being significant in units of measurement. Since we are hearing two different units of measure any further discussion is also likely to differ.

Your statement, my photographs is an assumption on your part, and is in error. As I have previously stated, I have not taken any photos for any reason in Ord. The photos were taken by the witness that identified Markowski as the operator with the city equipment.

As for the low life comment the point you have made here is well made and taken. Honestly between you and I...I may have been more indignant with myself for not talking with the owner of the building myself just prior to the building removal (since two weeks had past as stated at 4:48), to be sure all were still on the same page. Evidently at some point in time someone had different thoughts causing a police investigation and Markowski $200, and person(s) being described as low life. The question still must be asked, what equipment was used and whose ownership of that equipment was used?

sting - Saturday, May 8 2010 at 10:20pm

Isn't it time for an audit of the city books by the attorney general or the state auditor to check out how the rest of our money is being spent? Why is the clerk making special phone calls to private land owners about who's looking for properties, rather than selling city property. I think this cronyism goes deeper then anyone thinks.

Goldfish had city crews cut many trees down to the ground at his son's house. He claimed they were in the power lines. It looked like to me that the power lines were across the street. Trimming the trees should have been enough, but these trees were cut completely to the ground. If these city people can get their trees trimmed, why can't the city cut the trees down to the ground that's hanging over Q Street for Susan? Isn't the kid's safety at the Kid's Zone as important as Goldfish's son? Like irish one said, why does Edna Whitmore have to pay to have her's removed when Goldfish's son doesn't?

I had the opportunity to view the video (Another Perspective) of the Markowski Affair. It is absolutely hilarious. Those with a sense of humor will find watching this parody, laughing to the point that tears will roll down your face as it did me. I would encourage everyone to take a few minutes and request your own copy. It's to funny for you to be left out of laughing at this persective of the Markowski Affair.

Seems that even though they think they can say whatever they want, however they want, even OrdTalk is subject to copyright infringement. Too bad, I'm sure comparing situations in this town to a video of NAZIS AND HITLER is just so hilarious! Wish I could laugh about one of the largest genocides in history, using it to parody a small town squabble. Very classy OrdTalk!
