At Ord 6/10

The Ord Seniors defeated Shelton/Gibbon 11-7, behind the pitching of Jaden Janicek and Matt Stachura. Janicek went the first six innings and got credit for the win, giving up five hits, striking out five and walking five. Stachura pitched the seventh striking out two. Ord gave up six runs in the third inning, and was down 6-1 at the end of three innings.

Ord picked up a run in the second when Janicek walked, stole second and third and scored on a fielders choice and got two more in the fourth on walks to Stachura and Janicek. Jacob Zangger had an RBI as did Braden Orent. Ord added four more in the fifth on walks and and RBI by Janicek.

Kearney 6/11

The Ord Seniors lost a twin bill to Kearney Little Ceasars, 19-1 in five innings and 8-0 in six innings.

In the first game nothing could go right for Ord. They played hard, but errors and timely hits by Little Ceasars were to much to overcome. Kirk Christenson started and was relieved Braden Orent in the second. This was Orent's first pitching outing of the season and he did well. Ord got there run on a single by Preston Wilson and a double by Matt Stachura. Spencer Hoevet also had a single.

In the nightcap, Paul Stachura started and went two innings, and was relieved by Michael Shafer, who finished. Paul did very well, in his two innings of work, in his first experience against this time of competition, and Michael did well in his first pitching outing of the year. Braden Orent and Jacob Zangger both singled in this game.

While it is unpleasant to take two losses, the Ord Coaches feel that alot was accomplished, as they got to take a look at some different pitchers, and players.

The Ord Seniors record is now 6-4.

Lawman,
Can I assume that the Ord Seniors is the same as what we called in days gone by, the town team. Also can you post a roster?

Lawman - Tuesday, June 23 2009 at 1:42am

No the Ord Seniors are the older players in American Legion Baseball...Ages 17-19. In your and my day, they were the Juniors. The younger ones were the Midgets and are now the Juniors. I think there was a problem with the word Midgets...........everything has to be politically correct now, you know..

The town team are now called the Ord Cubs.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT!

The Tennessee Vols recently secured a committment from Evan Berry. Is this unusal? Normally no. However, the food for thought is that he is a 13 year old kid, that is not even in High School yet. He just finished the 8th grade. He won't even graduate from High School until 2013.

Well, on to Big Red Football.........if anyone is still reading the sports........Would like your imput on Q being dismissed from the team and how bad, if any, it will hurt the team. Also, where are you picking the Big Red to finish in the North, and Nationally?

My personal opinion is that they will end up 2nd in the North, with Kansas winning it and probably no better than 24th in the National polls.

I think they have alot of question marks, this year. Maybe it will all pan out, but think we might be over rating them a bit.

Alot of new faces. Some of it they can work out in the first couple of easy games, but don't know if that is enough time.
