Took care of that second Post for you huskerfan09. It happens! Amen to taking the edge off, it gets a little intense over there on the left side of the tab bar.

huskerfan09............you need to get together with Walt Smith...............he is a bigggggggggg phillies fan...........that is where he is from......

huskerfan09 - Thursday, April 2 2009 at 2:40pm

Thanks, admin!

Lawman, I will have to look Walt up, especially with the season upon us. We could share a bag of peanuts (or Cracker Jack) as we root. :)

Lawman

I know what you mean about going back farther the Davie. I use to like his father, the yarboro's Jr' grandfather, firball etc. When they use to drive thier race car to the race. That was racing. And if there was a problem, you take it behind the garage and duke it out. The Hemi's and fords 427 was king then. GM get a little upset cause they were not able to compete as well, not that they didn't win some, just not as much as the other two.

When I was younger, I use to drag race a certain state trooper that was around then, only he was not a trooper then. Even in NHRA money talks, although there are drag strips for us weekenders, like Kearney.

Years gone by I sat in the dugout of the Redsox's when Johnson was manager. It seems my mother was good a friend. I got to meet Yaz and the others. I use to have a team picture with all the signatures, but I know longer know where it is.
Huskerfan09
The Bronco's, well someone has to like them.lol I think Denver will do good this year, lot better then the chiefs. the question is will they get by the chargers? they have a bunch of draft that can do them rather well.
Walt is a good guy, I thought he was suppose to be on a diet..Maybe find something else to eat will chatting about sports. I didn't know Walt was from Philly. I had the best King crap (all you can eat) there. The only thing about Philly I didn't like was the whole in there roads.

oh yeh, you a got a Nebr running back...Go Buck

ordneb - Saturday, April 4 2009 at 8:25am

Huskerfan, if you're going to watch a phillies game with Walt, you'd better bring more than one bag of peanuts or Cracker Jacks. ☺

Lawman - Saturday, April 4 2009 at 12:36pm

Yep, Tincan, I definitely remember those days. The used to be a drag strip at the old Scribner Airport, but not there any longer. Spent some good sunday's out there.

I got to know DJ, Darrell Johnson, when he was a trouble shooter with the Mets. That was after his stint with the REDSOX.....He used to send back a huge box of baseballs, from the Mets training camp every year, for the Legion kids. He was one of the good guys!!!!

tincan - Sunday, April 5 2009 at 5:37am

I beleave I remember the scribner track.. getting old my memory is starting to fade...Yep, Darrell was a good guy. I kinda lost track of him when he left Seattle. I know he went to Houston as a pitching coach, that was what he did best. Before he went to the Boston he was at a farm team I beleave in Fall River, me thinks that is the town.

sounds like the D side of the ball is really getting better this you for the N...That was quit a turn out of coaches they had there this week. Bo is bring Nebr up in the world of football. I also hope that TO stays on for a few more years to help bring the rep of Nebr back.

How is the weather out your way, looks like we are missing it here, a little snow that is not staying.

Lawman - Sunday, April 5 2009 at 10:02am

Yeah the Pelini brothers are really good D coaches. As you say, they seem to be making progress everyday. And I am really impressed with Wats as the OC. He plays to what his players can do. I think Dr. Tom will be there maybe another 3 years, at least I hope he is. But, I am sure he is grooming someone one to take his place.

Had a good old fashioned blizzard for a while last nite, but really not to bad this morning. Hard to tell how much snow we got. I think it is more the wind than anything.

tincan - Sunday, April 5 2009 at 11:58pm

I have been hearing rumors about Dave Remmington to replace TO. It seem some of the money guys really want some one with a name that has been in sports. I think he might be a good choice. I hope you are right about 3 more years, I would say it will depend on his health as to how long he stays, both he and his wife love UNL.

Lawman - Monday, April 6 2009 at 9:33am

tincan.............Yes I have heard the Remington rumors also, and it would be a good choice, as he has both sports and executive backgrounds.

Also, Paul Miles, would be an excellent choice. He is an assistant AD under TO now.

I think when TO took the AD job, it was for a 4 to 5 year time period. But, I could be wrong about that.

Lawman - Monday, April 6 2009 at 10:19am

Sounds like the Big Red got a pretty good commit for the 2010 class. A cornerback out of Arkansas.

huskerfan09 - Tuesday, April 7 2009 at 9:55am

Lawman,

Good call for the race this past Sunday! If Edwards' crew hadn't screwed up so royally in the pits, then Edwards could've given Gordon a good run for his money in the end. Oh well....who do you have for the next race? (If I were a gambler, I'd take your call - you're 1 for 1!) :)

Lawman - Tuesday, April 7 2009 at 10:22am

Just a lucky pick........have him on my fantasy team, but it didnt help me much, cause some of my other drivers went tube city.

Guess I have to take Johnson this race. It is his kind of track.

And you are right, Edwards would sure have been in the mix, had they not had pit problems. He was doing good.

tincan - Tuesday, April 7 2009 at 11:39pm

yep that conerback from Arkansas looks to be a good one, and he loves to hit....

there is fantasy teams in nascar...damn I am getting old. I don't think NHRA has that.

Admin, is Walt going to make any comments on the sports page to get some discussion going?

huskerfan09 - Wednesday, April 8 2009 at 11:43am

Oh, yeah, tincan, they have just about "fantasy" anything out there anymore...baseball, football, basketball, nascar, horse racing, gymnastics, food-eating, and speed-oragami-swan-folding.

OK - I *might* be making some of those up.....just in the hopes to get a laugh. :)

Lawman - Wednesday, April 8 2009 at 2:02pm

huskerfan09..................you forgot leap-frog................

huskerfan09 - Wednesday, April 8 2009 at 2:30pm

They have leap frog? I didn't know about that one...I'll have to go sign up a team.....I hope Richard Simmons isn't taken yet......

HA!

Lawman - Wednesday, April 8 2009 at 3:53pm
