YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH It has arrived. Spring practice starts with a new conference today, and the real thing tomorrow. GO BIG RED!!!!

Lawman - Tuesday, March 24 2009 at 3:25pm

I see where John Leverson has left the team, but that was no surprise. He was expected to go. Looks like Cody Green has a minor hip injury and will miss at least four spring practices.

Lawman - Wednesday, March 25 2009 at 11:30am

Nate Swift is a big loss at wide receiver. Who do you think will replace him?

huskerfan09 - Wednesday, March 25 2009 at 11:38am

I'm sure Bo has something up his sleeve - can't wait for the season to get going. I was impressed with what Bo did last year, can only go up from here, right?!?

On a different note, Carl Edwards is my man...done well in the Nationwide series in the past, can't wait for him to get the top in Sprint. He gave Jimmie a real run for it last year. I'm not too sure about Junior - I just don't think that he has the talent his father did. Good guy, great knowledge of the sport, but not the "natural". Too bad we can't take it from Busch and give it to Junior.......

Lawman - Wednesday, March 25 2009 at 1:36pm

Huskerfan09...............yep, I am sure Bo will figure out something and probably already has. Bo will only get better as he gets more time under his belt. In a year or two he will be getting alot of offers.

I don't really care for Edwards, and really can't tell you why. I was a long time Bill Elliott fan, and really haven't settled in on another yet. I like the Kahne kid, but he tailed off last year..Maybe he will come on strong this year.

Lawman - Wednesday, March 25 2009 at 1:38pm

Steff....very interesting picture. I didn't even know Ord had a hockey team. I played alot of Hockey in the Omaha area for alot of years. Great game!!!

jab_gone - Wednesday, March 25 2009 at 1:40pm

OMG-I love the hockey pic-I didn't even know that Ord had a hockey team. Can someone tell me more? Also does anyone have any old pics of baseball from the Ord area? Would love to see them on here as well.

huskerfan09 - Wednesday, March 25 2009 at 3:17pm

Carl's got the backflip, that's what won me over. Just kidding...I've liked him for quite a while.

I'm also pretty fond of Joey Lagano, though he's pretty new. Seems like he's got quite a bit to offer. We'll see how he pans out through the years.

(Sorry, I'm not much into hockey, so I can't contribute to that conversation)

Lawman - Wednesday, March 25 2009 at 5:09pm

Jab_gone..............The Quiz might have some, and also the historical society. I have seen a few somewhere but can't remember where.

Huskerfan09..............Lagano should be good in a few years..But anyone with Gibbs should be good. Top notch equipment and crews.

Good article on Will Compton on Huskerextra.com

I love the Ish Kabibble haircuts on the hockey team. Boop, boop, diddum, daddum, waddum, chu!

LOL

Lawman - Wednesday, April 1 2009 at 11:38am

The baseball pictures were given to me, by a person who is very interested in Ord, and wanted to share them with the community. He thought this was a good way to do it. He did not want any credit given to him, just something he wanted to do.

huskerfan09 - Wednesday, April 1 2009 at 12:10pm

Any thoughts for the race this weekend? I'm hoping Busch has another poor showing like last week. Junior usually fairs pretty well at this track too. Could this be his week, finally? I, as always, hope for another backflip from Edwards.

Lawman - Wednesday, April 1 2009 at 10:16pm

Forgot to say, those pictures are from 1910, and are at a game between Ord and Scotia. Apparantly the ball diamond at that time, was where the Ord Golf Course is, on fairways 1 and 9.

Lawman - Wednesday, April 1 2009 at 10:21pm

Well, huskerfan09...............Junior did do better last week....they seem to have gotten something together, on that team, at least last week. Not sure about Edwards, the Roush teams seem to be having problems so far. Sounds like Kenseth was very unhappy at Martinsville.

I think I will go with Jeff Gordon this week....

Have a great one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tincan - Thursday, April 2 2009 at 5:42am

I use to love NASCAR. My favorite driver was Davie Allison. Today all the cars are the same, had to tell them apart. So many rules to make everything even, I lost interest. So have alot of other people.

I am sticking with my drag racing. Mrs. Force-Hood won the nitro funny car this past Sunday. Looks like Shumacker is going on a role for nitro rails.

The Huskers are looking better everyday. Lawman, glad that BO go a raise, I think he should have been a little higher, but maybe TO will correct that in the future depending on how he does.

Will the KC Royals or Chiefs ever get there act together. I getting tired of rooting for a loosing team.

Thanks Admin for the sports page, this is great.

Oh Lawman, I can not stand Gordon, if I have to pick, I will go with Tony. Like his fighting spirit.

Lawman - Thursday, April 2 2009 at 8:51am

Hey tincan.................Yes I will agree with you on the too many rules, and seems that there is a caution every two minutes, and we can count on there being a green white checker at the end. But, I am still hooked. Not as much as I used to be, but still love it. I go back even further than Allison. Used to watch Tiny Lund at the old Playland Park in Council Bluffs. He was killed at Daytona. But, I will definitely agree with you, they used to go out and race, they didnt have to be PR guys too.

I never have been able to get into drag racing for some reason, except when I was a kid, and it was illegal. lol.

Yep, BO deserved a raise, as did the assistant coaches. I think the Huskers will get better and better the longer BO is there. They had a great article on Derek Meyers yesterday on HuskerExtra. He is a great kid, my grandson played with him at Silver Lake.

I am a Redsox fan and have been forever. Never have been able to get into the Royals.

Yep Stewart is good, just picking Gordon for the Texas Race.

And you are right, the sports page is great....

huskerfan09 - Thursday, April 2 2009 at 9:55am

Hey! I agree that there seem to be too many rules in the NASCAR series now. However, we don't want another tragedy like what happened to Dale Earnhardt, so I say the safer, the better. It does seem like at the restrictor plate races all of the cars are excactly the same-it's just whomever happens to be the luckiest when the checkered falls.

Too bad some of them are having trouble with sponsors (David Gilliland), some good drivers are going away because of this terrible economy.

I'm like Lawman - don't care too much for the drags. Not to say that I haven't done a few in my day...but that's another topic altogether.

Also glad that Bo got his money. Tom's moving the program in the right direction. Hope to see it rebuilt to what it used to me. Should be exciting to watch.

As for MLB, my team is the Phillies - not sure why, just grew up liking them. Not very "midwestern", but I'll take 'em anyday.

As for the Cheifs, can't stand them! I am a Broncos fan, though I'm not too sure what Pat (the owner) is doing. I was really a fan of Shannahan, so hope to see what Pat's big plan is. Sounds like Cutler is going to be traded, so we'll wait and see what that brings about.

I, too, am a big fan of the sports page. Takes a little bit of the edge off of all of that "venting".

huskerfan09 - Thursday, April 2 2009 at 9:56am

whoops, don't know why it posted twice - sorry!
