I am visiting from out of state and ate at the Sandstone last night. We found it to be quite delicious. We had steaks and a trout special. The clam chowder and salads were great! Coming from a large city it is a nice treat to have the options of not eating at a large "chain". We have also enjoyed breakfast at Barb's Diner and Verda's.
Burwell is lucky to have a nice variety of restaurants!

I encourage everyone to listen to this talk radio show on the net. It's Christian Worldview Network and it talks about everything that's going on in the world right now. It tells you what the mainstream media isn't. I encourage everyone to go listen to this. play.php

what's the story, I haven't heard anything?

luckyone - Tuesday, April 14 2009 at 8:52am

Elementary principal leaving, dirt on a few of the 'teachers' in the highschool and the superintendent, that's all I know right now.

Lucky one, care to elaborate? (Just curious...)

We got him over here in Ord, thanks alot! Nepotism anyone? My understanding is they have been grooming him for the Superintendents job when Max leaves but had to get him in a pricipals job first. Anybody up for taking a bet or two?

huskerfan09 - Friday, April 17 2009 at 10:51am

Jason is a great guy - sad to be losing him. I just hope all of the "politics" in Ord don't discourage him.

luckyone - Tuesday, April 21 2009 at 11:59am

Haven't heard much else, except that Mr A is going to be coaching BB in Ord also. Not sure what happened with the AD and all that, didn't make it to the meeting.

I haven't heard anything else (except about Jason), so was curious what all the "dirt on a few of the 'teachers' in the highschool and the superintendent" was about.....(quoting luckyone - 4/14 at 8:52)

I heard from someone in Verdigre that Mr. Owens was heading there!

huskerfan09 - Friday, April 24 2009 at 9:52am

Who is Mr. Owens? Heading to Burwell?

luckyone - Saturday, April 25 2009 at 3:30pm

Really Baldman? I haven't heard that one yet, wouldn't be a 'bad' thing in my opinion, seems that everytime you want to talk to him at the school, he is NEVER around.

huskerfan09 - Monday, April 27 2009 at 11:26am

Are you talking about OUR Mr. Owens heading to Verdigre? Or someone from there heading here (Elem. principal)?

luckyone - Wednesday, April 29 2009 at 8:23am

Heard today that Mr Anderson is leaving after the end of the school year from what I heard he got another job elsewhere.

Burwell2Day - Friday, May 8 2009 at 4:56pm

So is everyone else as excited as I am about the gravel pit the are putting inside city limits less then a mile from our schools? I guess there was a public hearing about it last night and it passed with flying colors. It goes to City Council on Tuesday night. I feel bad for all the businesses along the highway it will ruin, but won't this be dangerous to our children?

luckyone - Friday, May 8 2009 at 5:21pm

Interesting, haven't heard that one yet. Who's gravel pit is it?

Burwell2Day - Friday, May 8 2009 at 5:40pm

Jeffres is moving their gravel pit to the field behind the Rodeo Inn and Maverick. Guess they are planning on it taking 20 to 25 years. Heard it is going to kill the property value for the surrounding areas.

luckyone - Saturday, May 9 2009 at 9:01am

Why are they moving their gravel pit? Just doesn't make sence to me bc they already have a gravel pit, so why do they need another one? They tend to usually get what they want I guess. I'm surprised that more people haven't spoke up about this happening (businesses etc)! Heard that Travis is leaving the police department here also. So many interesting things going on in this 'small' town!
