To Privy, OHS, and Butts,

You guys have been asked many many times to supply some facts and hard evidence to questions posted on this site. You have answered none. All you do is divert attention to something or someone else. I believe this is because you don't want the real facts out and about because it would make you look bad. Because you have done bad. And the Butts suggestion above about offering some solutions are getting involved is just another diversion. You guys have never accepted any suggestions from us nor do you allow anyone other than your own to be on any board whatsoever. As an example just look at how you all got rid of Judy Welniak from the committee she was on. Just could not tolerate an opionion other than your own could ya.

Our fearless leader remains silent.
But we KNOW you are reading this blog, Mr. ED CZAR.

Let us review what we have established:
1. ED Spring 2008 claim of 80 some new businesses - false
2. ED spring 2008 claim that administrative expenses total $30k or so over 3 years - false
3. Claims that Valley County is growing (thanks to ED) - false.
4. shirt puffing over ethanol plant and the local cold call center - down the drain.

Now, on to the next!!!

Please list, for the General Public, the estimated annual debt service payments from Medicare for the new hospital:
But wait, here's the catch -
You must list EVERY year of the estimated payments, not just the first FIVE (like you gave the county supervisors)
AND
MAKE SURE that these payments total out to the necessary $1.4 million per year required to pay off the building.

This should be interesting, because AS YOU KNOW, since the interest expense goes to zero over these 25 years, that leaves only $564k from Medicare per year at the end.

I wonder where our ED CZAR will come up with the missing $700,000 per year?....from the TAXPAYERS, I guess?

JOE PATERNO FOR THE HEISMAN!!! GO NITTANY LIONS!!!

dh3345 - Monday, December 1 2008 at 3:47pm

Well now. The above entry from Dim is a nice little summary of the happenings and the lies that went with them. Now do you think that the tax payers are going to get it yet. Yes the tax payers will pay for the hospital. Even though they were told no tax payer dollars would be involved. You were not told the truth. Do you from the Ord population understand this finally or is it that you just don't care about being lied to? If you care do something about it for a change. These people in control can only be in control if you let them.

Hey Privy, OHS and Butts,

Here are some facts for you! This is a direct quote from the Quize dated 8-6-08 so CHECK IT OUT.
"Jay Spearman of Ameritas appeared to discuss the issuance of bonds for the new Hospital. Board questioned how bonds could be issued prior to their approval, noting radio announcements and questions from the public regarding the bonds for which they had no information. Spearman said bonds have not been issued but an "expression of interest" was sought through the pre-issuance of the bonds." (The Ord Radio was not putting out false info was it?) "This also helps gauge the interest rates and protects the County and Ameritas. Spearman and Schrage noted that the Board had approved the pre-issuance in the beginning of the process but acknowledged that they should notify the Board ahead of time so they would be prepared for questions. They are right on target as to principal and interest. Bond insurance companies did not feel that ord fit their criteria due to population decline, so the bonds are not insured. This will cost a bit in interest rates, however, it allows for bonds to be offered first to the local area. Bonda are sold in $5,000 increments but record of who buys is not public, bond issuance closes 8-26-08."

So you see even Schrage was at the meeting where it was brought out Ord has a decline in population. How is that for hard evidence? Is it enough for you OHS? Also note that the bonds are not insured. How is this different than a juck bond then? Who will buy these? I suspect not too many people will want them and yes taxpayers will be on the hook to pay for the hospital.

Well it looks like when you have the words out of their own mouths, there is no comment. As I look back at the comments, whenever the "so called sources of information" make their statements and then they are called on for proof, they become silent. This leads me to believe they are "fluff".

Why when the economy is so unstable,( we have an ethanol plant in bankruptcy, our local call center has closed, another local business on the square has closed, the county board and hospital board would not hold up on starting this hospital project to see what is going to happen, before we are saddled with a debt that according to the bond insurers, that Valley County will not be able to handle. Instead we are working overtime in the evenings, on the weekends, etc. I wonder who is paying the overtime wages.
In the GI paper, they even quoted hospitals are having a hard time right now. I can't imagine that Ord is special and they are the only ones in the United States making money. From what I hear they have employees leaving all the time. A long time RN that has been there for over 10+ years just left and is driving to Kearney. Wonder what is going on behind those "closed doors". Probably the same as always. Indepartmental leaders......

This problem seems to never leave those hallowed halls. Their problem seems to carryover to our community also..... what to do??????

Something or someone has to stand up and do the right thing.

roberta538 - Monday, December 8 2008 at 2:36pm

Oh my, it looks like the Privy gang has taken their toys and gone home to pout. That's what all little spoiled ethically challenged boys do when they are put on the spot and can't win. That's ok. For all you other blog readers that's your sign. Get it? They are all guilty of the above mentioned deeds. What you all intend to do about it is the bigger question. Are you going to let them keep getting by doing the same old selfish, greedy, condescending, unethical behaviors?

This is for dh. Did you get so excited about the article you found in the Quiz? Looks like you forgot to do a spell check in your haste. Too funny! Great information by the way. Keep it coming.

Unknown/Guest - Monday, December 8 2008 at 7:42pm

In my estimation, one way to solve some of these problems is to invoke term limits on the City Council and County Board, along with all the other boards in the community, such as the School Board, Hospital Board etc.

Just a thought!!!

Unknown/Guest - Thursday, December 11 2008 at 10:40pm

Interesting article in the Ord Quiz under the Legal Notice. City of Ord Public works minutes for the December 3, meeting.

"The Board discussed the shut down of the ethanol plant, and discussed a possible increase in water rates."

Do these go together??????

roberta538 - Saturday, December 13 2008 at 8:06am

To Lawman:
Yes you can be assured that our increase in water rates is because we have to pay for that million dollar water line to the ethanol plant.

Here is some other food for the public to digest. Did you know that Bill Brush (buddy of Boss Hog) was put on the hospital foundation board several years ago when Barb Weems was the director. And guess what. He (Bill Brush) was paid $65,000.00 dollars for "consultant fees". And it is very unclear as to what he consulted on. In any event, it did not require him to quit running his business. No this was just a little side kick. We should all get paid $65,000 a year for full time work let alone the little bit of time he put in. Lets face it, if you can run your regular business and still get paid an extra $65,000.00 it did not require much time. Just another example of the good old boys at work filling their pockets. And don't you usually get paid by check? Funny thing about these payments is they were made in the form of deposits. Was that to hide the payment??? Is this the first time anyone in the general public was made aware of such payment? I think so.
Stay tuned, this is only one of very many examples of Ord mafia at work.

Unknown/Guest - Saturday, December 13 2008 at 2:36pm

Very interesting!!!!!!!

em6882 - Saturday, December 13 2008 at 4:03pm

If I remember right, the Bill Brush thing was to start some sort of community insurance, that no community seemed to want.

But I hear it was still making the rounds a few years ago. But still no takers.

Now Mr. Brush is our illustrious Valley County representive (appointed by the board of supervisors) on Loup Basin Public Health Board.
Wonder if the representation is personal or for Valley County??????????Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I am sure we are going to pay the price of infrastructure growth, ie..water project, electricity, payment for Administrative oversite... wonder who that would be....

Does the community know that we pay certain people to oversee the sales tax money, and to administrate that fund....??????******* ( and they are not city employees...... Interesting......

em6882 - Saturday, December 13 2008 at 4:10pm

Am just wondering how come on the web site for the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Bethanne Kuntz is still listed as Chamber Director and Nancy Glaubke is Economic Development Director. When did she get appointed? I never read about that in the paper. Of course the rewards for being the right mouthpiece are great!

How come our new Economic Development Director doesn't get the glory that Bethanne got??? Got to wonder about that. I feel kind of sorry for him, I hope it is not the same MO they do for other organizations, hire someone from out of town and let them take the hit when things go south.

I was impressed by his comments in the GI paper. He didn't try to mouthpiece the grave situation that we seem to be in.

They naysayers were wrong about the hospital bond. They were saying that Medicare was going to run out of funds by 2019. According to Medicare the funds run out in 2016 - seven years from now.

D94Q5TH80.htm

Problem is here we have a 25 year bond that is depending on medicare to pay it all. There's still time to stop the madness before the county supervisors saddle us with $1.5 million extra per year in taxes. Who in their right mind would push ahead with a 25 Million project in this climate that depends entirely on Medicare staying the same? Even our county supervisors have to see this is crazy.

Unknown/Guest - Sunday, December 14 2008 at 10:37am

50-100 employees will be laid off at Good Sam Hospital by March.

And we are building a new hospital. Go figure!!!

Remember way back when Gaylord Boilsen was Mayor? See this good old boy stuff has been going on for many many years. At that time they had the "CBS" group of "wheeler dealers". Clement put in the West Ord Acres housing area. Guess who the C part of the group was. He went before the City Council and guess what? Even though the people that bought homes out there paid for 6 inches of cement, the City Council voted to allow Clement to put down a cheap layer of blacktop. Therefore, the home owners had a street full of pot-holes and had to pay to have it redone a few years later. It was a great deal for Clement at the expense of the home owners who paid for but did not get what they were supposed to get. Those kind of deals only go to the "special" people. Stay tuned there is much more.

roberta538 - Tuesday, December 16 2008 at 10:57am

Here are more historical facts from Ord’s Chicago Style of operations. We don’t have the Daily machine we have the Boss Hog machine and it has been operating for many years. Do you remember when Gaylord Boilsen was mayor? It’s been years ago. At that time there was a group known as CBS. They scratched each other’s backs and made life much better for themselves. Jim Clement was building the West Ord Acres housing area.
He sold the homes with the promise that there would be 6” of concrete and they (home buyers) paid for that. Then Jim went to the City Council and they voted to allow him not to put the 6” of cement that was required, to save him money. He was allowed to put a thin layer of blacktop down instead. Therefore in a short time the streets out there were falling apart and were full of holes. Guess what, the homeowners had to again pay for 6” of cement. See the homeowners were screwed in favor of one of the special ones. Same old stuff is still going on today. When are people going to be sick enough of it to do something to stop it? There will be more facts presented so stay tuned.

Ja1949 - Friday, December 19 2008 at 11:12am

Well, just kind of wondering what is happening on Vera Sun, seems way too quiet. That usually is not a good sign.

Are the farmers able to sell their corn somewhere else, or are they still obligated to Vera Sun?

It seems Kearney Hospital investments have taken them under, a contributing factor at least to all the layoffs they will have.

Didn't Valley County invest the bond money that had come in? What has happened to that investment?

Seems pretty quiet out there, there are whispers behind the doors........

Ja1949 - Friday, December 19 2008 at 11:22am

to dim,

looks like the naysayers regarding the hospital were half right,(stay positive,***) only the timing was wrong. gave them way too much time to sink us further indebt. Shame... Shame...Shame....on them.
