falcon-excuse me for the confusion I forgot to quote Rock on the first part of my post so to make it clear to you, I have moved away from Ord, I was quoting Rock on a post that he posted

jab_gone - Friday, March 20 2009 at 10:50am

Another question I have about the council member-if he is as corrupted as some of the post say he is, how did he get on the council in the first place? I mean he has been on the city council for quite a few years and continues to be re-elected so the people in his ward must feel as if he is doing the job that he needs to do otherwise wouldn't someone come along from his ward and run for office and get him out?

falcon - Friday, March 20 2009 at 10:53am

jab_gone,

Thanks for clearing that up. Wouldn't want to ruin your credibility.

This communication thing is a funny thing. If we aren't clear on what we say it is easy to misunderstand one's point of view. Just like reading what is posted here. Depends on the mindset of the individual on how the blog is interpreted. If you think the person is being sarcastic, then it will make you mad. If you read it as a statement of fact, it may just be interesting, etc.

PERCEPTION is a large part of any situation. There may be a car wreck with 10 witnesses and when giving a report to the police, there may be 10 different stories as to what happened.
Personally I think this is what is happening in Ord. Along with those who want to spend other peoples money. (higher taxes) That is why there is all of the fighting. Perception of situations creates mindset. Add the Delphi Technique, which divides people and walaah..........POLARIZATION.

I have worked with a lot of different types of people and most around here have similar values. If you were to poll the 2 sides in Ord, probably one would find that they have a lot of things that they value to be the same.
If we could go back to Roberts Rule of Order for our meetings instead of trying to intimidate those with differing opinions, maybe, just maybe we can start anew. TRUST is gone and will take a lot of time to return.

The powers that be had no idea the mess they were going to make trying to get the Steven's out of town and have been trying to fix Ord for the last several years. They have made it hard on themselves trying to get anything good done. (Not to say they haven't done some things right) Can you imagine what Ord really would be like if we could work together?

The problem is, THEY JUST DON'T GET IT.

falcon-nice post

Lawman - Friday, March 20 2009 at 11:46am

Good posts to both falcon and tincan.........

I just want to clear up a few things, and then I am done posting, as it actually does no good. The trash keeps coming, and will continue.

You can press Rock for facts all day, and you will never get any, and that is because he doesnt have any.

To clear up one thing, and it is a minor point, the Chief that Rock referred to as being handcuffed and arrested, was not handcuffed, that was just put in by Rock to make it look worse that it was. But, it shows how he loves to keep on, keeping on.

In the case of the 5 burglaries in one night. They happened in 2008. First of all it was 4 and there was no place that contained guns and ammo that was broken into or an attempt made. That comes from the officer that made the investigation. Where the Chief was, that night has no bearing on anything. He did not work nights, so would not have been on duty anyway. The (playing footsie with a girl friend,) was just another low blow by Rock, which of course he has no proof of. And that is hurtful to both the person and to his family. The first report came about 7 in the morning and the others followed. And the people who committed the crimes were arrested the same day.

I would say that was pretty good work.

In the case of the middle school juvenile being at an adult party, and obtaining his or her drugs, is very doubtful. Possible? Of course it is. But, apparantly Rock has information that others do not. The information that I have is that the juvenile who was caught, in one way or another, with steriods at the school. A bad drug? Yes it is, and it has been proven to cause them problems later in life. But it is definitely not the party drug of choice anywhere that I am aware of.

I am sure there will come a time, when Rock will have to prove all the things he says. I am guessing that is already in the works, and could very easily end up in court. I do know that copies of all entries on this site, have been copied, (myself included) and are being studied.

This has been a good site, until recently, and I have been impressed with the knowledge of things in the community that some have. And for most things, they have had the proof. I have also been impressed with that. Hopefully it will get back to what it was.

Lawman - Friday, March 20 2009 at 11:51am

To Admin............several of us would like to see a sports section on this site, where we can hash and rehash different sporting events. Just a suggestion....Thanks

jab_gone - Friday, March 20 2009 at 12:30pm

Lawman-very nice post!! By the way, the sports page would be nice:)

Lawman - Friday, March 20 2009 at 1:45pm

Thanks Jab_gone...........Yep I think we could have some fun with the sports thing.

rock - Friday, March 20 2009 at 1:51pm

Facts are facts - proof is proof. Lawman and his associates parse and catagorize each statement and avoid looking at the whole picture collectively. The issue with the council member and him misusing the police frequencies will be judged, by the court of public opinion, as it will be presented at the next board meeting for consideration.

So far, I have heard the reasons for my campaign to get competent law enforcement in the city of Ord, and to hold council members accountable for their actions to be that I am retaliating or trying to get even, with the board members because I had to dig up red irises bordered by black irises (flowers) all in the shape of an "N", that were over 18 inches tall and on the corner where I live, that I paid two $8.00 parking tickets for parking my truck and trailer on the street (while stopping home for lunch), as well as other equally stupid reasons projected to take the spotlight off of the real issues.

Everyone knows who I am, I've not hidden behind any anonymity. I have put my name on the radio and newspaper ads, while others remain hidden behind their anonymity, in the same way they conduct their lives, and allowing people to see only what they want them to see, keeping their true character hidden away, and look for fault and blame when others threaten to expose their true character.

gyp - Friday, March 20 2009 at 4:31pm

Rock

All anyone is asking for is facts and, yes, proof. So far, the only thing that you have written that could be true, is that someone may have warned the councilman,or whoever it was.

But, you have accused, certain people of doing and selling drugs, but no proof. That is what they call slander. You have accused the same person of being the "town drunk", but again, have not offered any proof of that. You have accused the former police chief of driving while intoxicated, but again have provided no proof. That again, is slander. You have accused the same person of "playing footsie with his girlfriend" , but again, no proof.

Lawman, has apparantly done his homework, and seems to have the facts or proof to prove his position on this. Your only response has been, "oh, go have another beer", or something similar to that.

I really don't care who you are, what you are is more important, and you have sure showed what you are.

Why any board would let you spew the garage that you spew, is beyond me. And hopefully this time they will demand facts. REAL FACTS.

rock - Friday, March 20 2009 at 7:07pm

jab gone, you have misread the post about the 8th grader & drugs. My post said I will give you an EXAMPLE in trickle down in reverse. In fact, I used the word example twice in that post. The post was Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 9:52 pm, please read it again. No where did I say, the 8th grader was attending a party. Lawman is trying to capitalize on your misreading, again compartmentalizing a single sentence or event, instead of looking at the entire event or statement. Pay very close attention from here on out, and watch the attempts to compartmentalize single events as being harmless, and should not be looked at collectively to get the big picture and to create a distraction, avoiding the issue at hand. It has already started, and you will see more at the board meeting.

The issue of the former chief of police, is over as far as I am concerned. He was present at the January board meeting. He received my letter to the board, two weeks in advance of them receiving their copies. He had ample opportunity to speak to me personally, about my letter, stating that the board should pursue his resignation, but he chose not speak to me about it, nor was anything contained in that letter disputed by any one, including the chief. The former chief of police is no longer the chief, and the city is the benefactor. As the ad, for a new chief says they need an officer that can work cooperatively with other agencies.

rock - Friday, March 20 2009 at 7:23pm

gyp, Lawman has done his homework? What proof has lawman offerred, that you are relying on? I have seen no proof, I'll have seen is a contradiction. (a contradiction, by an anonymous person) How do you find anonymity credable? Lawman claims not to be the resigned chief of police, for that matter you don't even know that he is a lawman, (meaning a law enforcement officer).

falcon,
I agree preception can be a large part of a situation. Depending on the side you are on. I have gone back to reread all blogs and this is amazing. I agree totally with your idea of polarization. I'll have to check out Ellen's stuff too. (Delphi Techinque) I believe it was you that said it was hers.

irish one - Friday, March 20 2009 at 9:04pm

gyp,
I have gone back through the blogs, to see if there was something I missed.
Accuse people of selling drugs? Who has Rock accused of selling drugs? Because I just don't see that in the blogs? Newsflash- Whenever anybody says the council members name in town, almost immediately, they say he's a drunk. Where have you been? Another newsflash- I was at the hair salon recently, and the grocery store, this seems to be the topics of conversation. (again common knowledge) New subject came up also womanizer, being another descriptive word for this councilman too.

Probably the only one, who doesn't know about the girlfriend playing footsie, is the wife. All of the girlfriend's neighbors see it and know it. (common knowledge)

If you don't want to be the topic of conversation, be above reproach.

Rock has shown what he is made of. He has stated and shown over and over he wants better law enforcement, and city council members being held accountable. I believe these are the real issues at hand.

jab_gone - Friday, March 20 2009 at 10:43pm

Rock- I went back and read your post and yes, you did say it was an example so thank you for pointing that out, and I stand corrected but if you re-read mine, I actually said, "IF" and if you read Lawman, he also said, "If"

jab_gone - Friday, March 20 2009 at 10:54pm

I am going to repost this as no one has responded-Another question I have about the council member-if he is as corrupted as some of the post say he is, how did he get on the council in the first place? I mean he has been on the city council for quite a few years and continues to be re-elected so the people in his ward must feel as if he is doing the job that he needs to do otherwise wouldn't someone come along from his ward and run for office and get him out?
The problem I have with all of this is I know both the councilmen and X-police chief and their families quite well and while both men have their faults it's hard for me to imagine all the stuff that others have said about them-it just doesn't make sense. If it is true what you say then there better be solid proof because we talking about peoples lives here.

Admin

Like Lawman, I would really like a sports section. Spring football is about to begin at Husker land.
I would also like to see maybe Walt Smith put his idea's on Ord sports, if he is still involved, that is.

thanks

ocabala - Saturday, March 21 2009 at 10:00am

A sports section would be fine. Would it have all sports in it or just the ones that a few of you like? I think if you have a sports section you would include things such as hunting and fishing, since they are both sports too. Golf would also have to be included. I am sure there would be a lot of interest in it if it were to happen. We could probably add quite a few more to this list if we all put our minds to it.... Maybe it would get some of you thinking of other things on here other than cutting each others throats about topics that are of no importance. But this is just MY opinion. I guess that is what this site is all about though, isn't it?

admin - Saturday, March 21 2009 at 11:14am

YOUR WISH IS OUR COMMAND! Heres the kicker though. I don't give a rats hindquarters about sports (SACRILAGE! BURN HIM AT THE GOAL POST!) So, heres the deal, if you want a sports page, we need the help to make it happen. We have a camera available if you want video clips, I can talk to Walt and see if he would post an article or two and if you want interviews with local coaches, let me know and I'll see if we can make it happen. Other than that, the ball is in your corner, TAKE IT, RUN WITH IT, RUN LIKE THE WIND! (and all those other odd sports type analogies!)

To contact me about the camera or any of the above mentioned:

jab gone - thanks for asking the question again. I got pulled away visiting with one of my girls. I can only give you a speclative answer. The job as a city council member is very time consuming. I'm sure some people have considered running for the position, but have been discouraged due to the amount of time it takes. I'm sure, as you know, everybody's time is valuable. I do not recall if anyone has ever run for this position in this particular ward, so it maybe that he is the only one running for that position. (unopposed) I guess will have to see what happens in the future.
