rock, hubby came home from work today. He said everybody is talking about your latest radio ad. He says that you have a way of shocking peoples eyes open. He also said that big mug is trying to get anyone he can to listen to him, about how bad of a person you are. I have heard and seen this myself when he's around. We just simply tell him yeah, uh hu, then shake our heads and role our eyes. I finally heard your ad on radio at 5:45 pm. I can't believe there is that much of a cost difference, between sheriff dept & police dept. WOW!

Another great day fishin at the river in Ord, Ne. The farmers almanac said today & tommorrow are supposed to be good days for fishing. That turned out to be true today, as I limited out on walleye. I suspect tommorrow will be the same.

Fact check here rock, the hospital board did vote to revoke both of the Stevens' hospital privileges, effectively kicking them out the door on their own. Their patients helped them set up a private clinic over that weekend so they could be open for business the following Monday
Fact Check-Dr. Dan and Julie broke the rules-plain and simple; if people break the rules then there is consqences. I also believe that Dr. Dan and Julie had their hands in getting Dr. Martin, Dr. Zuruba and a couple of PA's to leave so don't give that crap about the hospital board-If you think that it's so easy to be on the board then why don't you run for office then

Can you tell me what rules were broken by Dr. Dan and Julie?
Why did DR. Blake have to leave, was it really JUST about the bond issue?

jab_gone,

Just to let you know how things work in Ord. You don't run for the hospital board, you are appointed by the county board of supervisors.

As for why Dr.'s Martin and Zaruba and other P A's left, don't speculate on their reasons. There were a lot of other things happening in the hospital and for them personally at the time of their departure, not just the Stevens'.
To blame a single entity for the problems of the hospital makes about as much sense as blaming YOU for the financial crisis in the United States.
There are a number of problems in the VCH. Things that have been the same for years, and not changing.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
It will continue to have problems as long as they do business as usual.

I agree with you, that when you break the rules there needs to be consequences. That is my biggest complaint about the politics in Ord of selective enforcement. (wether it be the hospital board or city board) I have been complaining about city boards selective enforcement for years, which has been again displayed withing the past two wks. I plan to fully address it with the city board.
As to all this tadoo with VCH, I simply don't care for their type of impersonal, show me the money method of providing healthcare services. The very limited experience that I and my family have had with VCH has not been good. On the other hand, our experiences with the Stevens Medical Clinic has been good, and have been on a very personal level. The voters did vote for a new VCH, the voters have spoken. However, I do believe the voters were convinced to vote for this new hospital under the notion that it will be paid for by medical payments from the federal government. I believe this to be very misleading, but only time will tell. If it ends up on the tax rolls for a Valley County bailout.

rock,

Just to let you know a little bit about Ord, since it sounds like you haven't been here all of your life. Rules are made by the boards and are changed midstream to fit the desired outcomes. If they don't get the desired result or results, new rules are implemented until the result is accomplished. (Or they hire someone with taxpayer money,to be a hit man,or facilitator, someone to do the dastardly deed and leave)
Where are all of the new doctors? As you know, they come find out for themselves what is going on here and leave. No one wants to come to Ord.

Transperancy in government is lacking locally (and goes on up the line to federal level). Some of the boards don't even discuss things at the public meetings, most things are decided before the meeting. How can board members vote and not even know all of the facts or feelings of other board members without discussion. I understand that the committees do the research and then discuss it with board members via email or over the phone or in person. Of course they have to be careful of a quarrum. So when the public comes to a meeting things are all ready to be voted on without any discussion. If they really care and are public servants, why not discuss publicly decisions to be made? I realize there are personal issues that cannot be discussed in public, but really, most things should be transparent. We, the taxpayers, are who they are representing. When there is no transparency it makes an appearance of something being wrong or the feeling someone wants what they want regardless of public appeal.

I guess I need to clarify - no where did I say my hubby works with big mug. March 16th conversation with rock- What I did say: Hubby came home from work today. He said everybody is talking about your latest radio ad. He says that you have a way of shocking people eyes open. He also said that bigmug is trying to get anyone he can to listen to him, about how bad of a person you are. I have heard and seen this myselfwhen he's around. Wejust simply tell him yeah...... I as in me... Myself as in me... We as in coworkers...
How you came to the conclusion that my hubby works with big mug is beyond me...

falcon - you are correct. I grew up in Ord as a child. We have finally moved back home, been here for 7 years now. What you have described, I have found to be so very very true, with the city board. Frankly, I am somewhat astounded as to your perfect description of how the city functions here. I think they have been doing it for so long, they simply don't know of any other way to do it. As to the other boards, (county, hospital, etc.) I have very little first hand knowledge. The best I can offer on that subject is I am very happy and confortable with Dr. Dan Stevens and all of his staff at the Steven's Medical Clinic, and don't see anything wrong with them. As a quick note, the farmers almanac was again correct, today was a good day for fishing. I again limited out on some beautiful walleye. Another great day in Ord, Valley Co, Ne.

It's time to get the "Designated Daves" out tonight....

irish one - Tuesday, March 17 2009 at 9:01pm

rock, Several people are watching these posts. I have heard it around town also. We have been talking about them at work quite frequently. We have some questions that we would like to ask you. 1- is it true, two of the city board members had a meeting with you over the weekend, trying to convince you to stop the radio & newspaper ads? 2- is it true, that you are going to the next board meeting, looking for another resignation? 3- that your next radio ad is about proving what you have been saying is true?
