crash, Thanks. As PMS pointed out (during the Markowski Meltdown) he reads ordtalk... A lot of people read ordtalk. Given the amount of phone calls I get in support...PMS is right on this one. All I do is gather up the facts and present them as they are. If they find the facts slanderous then maybe they should evaluate their actions. If they find my comments slanderous then maybe they should evaluate their actions, that lead to these comments. What appears to be most disturbing to the cronies is not what they are doing...but rather someone pointing it out. As I have said before Ord is a great place to live... we can do better...once we put an end to the patrimonalism, nepotism, cronyism and use the economic development for the good of the community, rather then economic success for the cronies. I believe we owe that to all the young folks in our community to end the old way of doing business.

An interesting paradox has come to the surface (pun intended) surrounding the question of stop signs on Q Street. At the Wednesday August 18, 2010 special city council meeting addressing the speed limit reduction and stop signs, I told the members of this board that Matt (one of our special folks) was riding his three wheeled bicycle from MNIS and was nearly hit on the corner of 11th & Q by one of the city dump trucks that traveled up and down Q Street. This near miss was caused by evergreen trees on the corner blocking the view of any vehicle or bicylcle approaching the corner. I suggested cutting the evergreen trees down or putting up stop signs. These particular evergreen trees on the corner blocking the view of the intersection are on the property owned by Council Member Goldfish. The paradox that exists here is that this board will be recommending putting up stop signs or cutting down the evergreen trees of which Council Member Goldfish now has a conflict of interest in. Additionally, if this board as well as the city council chose to ignore the 39 people that signed this petition and a tragedy occurred the city and maybe the council members could be found with contributory negligence in any accident occurring thereafter.

Rock - the real paradox is that you had a petition circulated to either have the city remove trees or and/or place a stop sign at the corner of 11th and Q street. Come to find out the property belongs to Council Member Goldfish....I think you now know where I am going with this...

Once the trees are removed at the cities expense will you go after Council Member Goldfish because the city trimmed/removed the trees on your dime?

What ever happened to the regular yellow school bus??????
Thought there was a rock star coming through town when I saw the newly painted school bus.

Do we really need something that fancy?

Bet most people who pay the most taxes don't drive around in fancy vehicles.

Are there going to be armored guards to protect the bus every where it goes so it doesn't get keyed????

pitbull - Saturday, August 28 2010 at 3:21pm

thats ord all show and no go. or nice house, nobody home. and OrdFF, if the trees are on goldfish's property why should the city cut them down? or are you thinking the city will, for the next shady deal coming down the pike. I'll bet their thinking you would fit in great with the sceam of things.

rock - Saturday, August 28 2010 at 9:50pm

ordff, To clarify the petition addressed speed limit and stop signs; it had nothing in it about removing trees. Your point is well taken. It was verbally stated by me at the special meeting, we need to do one or the other. The simplest way to address this and the least expensive is stop signs. I believe Council Member Goldfish doesn't want the trees removed. If the trees were removed, I believe this would be the owner's responsibility. However, (there is that dreaded word) Mayor Randy O'Brien has previously stated that Superintendent Paul Markowski removes trees all over town that are a threat to the public, over sidewalks, streets, etc.,that again is selective. I would not have a problem with the city trimming or removing trees on our dime...for public safety concerns... They need to do that for ALL the tax payers, not just the council members or the superintendents.

falcon, The newly painted Bohemoth bus is getting more than keyed. When it goes up and down Q Street the overhanging trees are hitting the top...great for the new paint job.

tincan - Sunday, August 29 2010 at 12:20am

what kinda paint job is on the buses? Guess it is not safety yellow anymore.

tincan - Sunday, August 29 2010 at 12:21am

don't suppose a picture could be put on the VENT?

rock - Sunday, August 29 2010 at 8:46am

tincan, Great idea. I'll see about setting up a video cam to record the Bohemoth Tour Bus going up and down Q Street, when it hits the low hanging branches and tears up the top of it.

Find a big tarp to hide that beast under. We in Burwell don't want the school to get any ideas.

OrdFF - Saturday, September 4 2010 at 1:16pm

No surprise here...almost a week later and no video yet of the bus going up and down Q street.

The way some on this site talk about what a big deal the bus is you would have thought that it would have been in the countries best interest and national security to already have the all important video...

Why is it so hard for people to remember what happened on Sept. 11, 2001? Is it because we watch so many movies that it just seems like another movie? The same with all of the World Wars, etc. What has happened to History? One word........... Desensitization

burgerboy - Friday, September 10 2010 at 10:50pm

Anyone remember what happened on March 30, 1981?

Anyone been in the school lately?
Drywall dust everywhere, no ceeling, concreat floors, construction going on while were in class. just the other day, they made the power go out in one of the class rooms.

Question; How safe is it for us students to be there?

My answer; Its not safe. we'd be better off staying home.

ordneb - Saturday, September 11 2010 at 8:59pm

Dear Student,

Obviously you're in the wrong building. They teach remedial spelling and typing at the Elementary School building.

Otherwise, I have a hard hat and a flashlight that you can borrow if necessary. ☺

crash - Sunday, September 12 2010 at 8:37am

Nebby,
Good to see you haven't lost the sensitivity to students needs for a premium safe and clean learning environment that you built your campaign for the bond with. I guess now that it has passed and being built you can now reveal the truth that these issues really didn't matter to you.
