Part 1
The label Boss Hog is obviously derived from the former TV series "Dukes of Hazard". A short porky little man through manipulative influence controls the functions and lives of those in the county of Hazard. Those that oppose the Boss Hog are pursued by him and his cronies for destruction and financial ruin. I can already hear the "Duha rock", we know that... This nostalgia lesson is for those that did not get to enjoy the original TV series of many years ago to the parable of the present day in Ord and Valley County. I always had trouble with the idea that one individual could wheel enough influence to manipulate various people and boards to do his bidding, believing most people can and will do their individual thinking and not be molded to someone else's thoughts because they believe he knows best because he is a lawyer. Boss Hog does not stand before crowds trying to sell a particular idea. He is more like a puppeteer controlling the movements of his minions who have little understanding of the issue at hand, but just know that the Boss Hog wants it done for whatever reason that may be. The rewards for doing the boss's bidding can be great, (I.e. a $100,000 real estate deal with a wireless company for one of his minions that pursued the shady real estate deals for the Ord Dome). Then by having another minion remain silent (over an obvious conflict of interest), while the city gets the bird (that story is shortly coming).

Part 2
On the other end of the scale is total desecration of one's reputation and financial ruin or at least attempted ruin if one does not follow the bidding of Boss Hog. We have seen this with the hospital fiasco when the hospital board read the prepared statements showing every measure of being prepared by a professional grade twistologist(lawyers) as to the reasons 2 of our doctors, as well as their patients were denied hospital access. If that was not enough, Boss Hog and his minions then pursued their professional licenses. Why? Because they dared open their own clinic to serve their patients and were veiwed as competition to the Boss Hog's vision of a single clinic located within the Valley County Health Systems. The goal obviously to give the people of Ord and Valley County no alternative to health care, but what Boss Hog has designed for you. To this very day many people refuse to use the Valley County Hospital and/or Valley County Health Systems because of these unwarranted attacks. I am pleased to say these doctors continue to provide health care to our community and many of us are thankful for them. Boss Hog's patrimonilism, cronyism and collaboration are like a wheel with many minions as spokes. Is there a Boss Hog in Ord, Valley County? Yes, much to my surprise I must admit there appears to be a Boss Hog. Perception is reality...

Rock,

I saw Boss Hog coming years ago. In fact some very good friends of mine talked about him alot to me. They finally moved away because they did not like the way the town was going. Like I have stated before the town fathers of years ago, must be turning in their grave at what is going on in this town.
falcon really stated it correctly in his last paragraph about the town of Ord. rock what you need to also look at, is that boss hog is following in the footsteps of out state and national leaders. They are doing the same thing. Congress is corrupt, and it trickles down to Ord and boss hog. I only know one lawyer that I would trust and she has died. Oh, by the way, she was a graduate of OHS.

falcon - Sunday, August 8 2010 at 7:39am

Loyalists to boss hog may not be so loyal. Information is obtained, wait.......wait........wait..........patient...........patient......thenGOTCHA...........be sure your sins will find you out. There are some messes you just can't fix or cover up. Oh what a tangled web he weaves.

Ord Quiz, August 4th, page 3A, "New Blood in Valley County"

A good positive article by Caleb Polard, however some of this economic development went to a privileged few praticing patrimonilism, nepotism, cronyism and outright theft that is embedded within the city government. Once we eliminate the privileged cronyism that is embedded in the city government we would have a real true positive outlook for the future.

Falcon,

Out of curiosity, who else in town has the facilities or capabilities to paint the bus?

ordneb - Monday, August 9 2010 at 3:04pm

Rock could have dipped a couple of cats in some red paint and flung them up against the side of the bus as it raced back and forth in front of his house! ☺

rock - Monday, August 9 2010 at 3:41pm

No ordnebby. I wouldn't do that to our feline friends, however I would do it to a child abuser. I would even pay for the opportunity to do that.

We are losing quite a few people here in Ord in the next 30 days or so. Heres a list of the ones I know...feel free to add more if you know of them.

Mike and MaryAnn Stevens...Good people, she worked at the hospital and he is a computer programmer. I don't know of anyone on any side of any issue that has a problem with either of them. Just nice folks and it will be a sad day when they leave our community.

Randy and Chris Cullers and their childeren. (5 children)

Larry Kearns and family.

Andrew Mihm.

Dan and Monika Anderson and family. (4 children)

Harry and Marilis Christensen. Harry and his wife ran the NAPA store here and in Burwell for years. They volunteered for everything and are great assets to any community, as they will be where ever they move to.

Regardless of what you think of any of the aforementioned they have all contributed to our community in one way or another and they will be missed. Be kind venters and in the words of the Monitor Penguin, "Just smile and wave boys, just smile and wave."

Just smile and wave

sting - Monday, August 9 2010 at 7:41pm

I would pay to see rock swinging nebby, the child abuser by his heels and slamming him into the side of the Bohemuth. Nebby could be the real chicken permanently molded into the side of the bus.

rock - Monday, August 9 2010 at 8:16pm

Steffan, add to the list of people that are leaving Ord - Darwin (Doc) & Connie Fread (1 child).

Doc's mild mannerism and gentle nature will be missed around Ord. Connie being a highly skilled RN is also a great loss to our community.

On KNLV website, Duane commented about Caleb Polard's article "New Blood in Valley County." Duane referenced SAFFPopulation which cited an estimated population of 1,990 for 2009 (with the loss of 23 more people, that does not speak very well for the build it and they will come theory.) Considering when we moved back home to Ord, the population was around 2,269 according to the link.

tincan - Tuesday, August 10 2010 at 1:30am

When I left the pop was 2410.
The only people I know on that list is Larry and Linda Kearns. They have lived here since the 60's as husband and wife. To bad.

I will urge people to take a look at the young people that are moving back the last couple years, though. Many haven't had kids yet and are planning to. Just off the top of my head I know of about 7-8 couples that have either had or are expecting their first kids and a couple more that are on their second or third. It doesn't matter who you are, it should be encouraging to see that. Think of it this way; at least now there are going to be young people to keep the arguments going when we're all too tired and old for it!

rock - Tuesday, August 10 2010 at 12:13pm

Shakes, one thing about these young people that have had kids or are planning to have kids, they will not be able to have the delivery in Ord. They will have to go elsewhere for their delivery. No baby deliveries at Valley County Health Systems. This is in addition to a large portion of the local population that have been excommunicated and denied access to the County Hospital that is on our tax rolls.

Shakes - Tuesday, August 10 2010 at 6:22pm

rock - Switching topics again, eh? Some things never change! Answer this: What does people coming back to town have to do with where their children are delivered? How does one affect the other? Would it kill you to look at the positives those young people bring instead of using it to instigate another argument? If you ask me, the reason no one came back for so many years was because of the attitude towards "newcomers" people like you portray and now that is starting to be outweighed by opportunity!

crash - Quick question: are you saying Petska is at fault for that happening?

rock - Tuesday, August 10 2010 at 10:12pm

Shakes, as sting previously said, "Leave it to Shakes to speak out of both ends at the same time."

I feel the need to get the crayons out and draw you a picture...

You are the one that stated, "...Many haven't had kids yet and are planning to...7-8 couples that have either had or are expecting their first kids and a couple more that are on their second or third." You are also the one that alluded to not looking for factual information...on this site.

My comment that young couples can not have their babies born at VCHS is a FACT and it is not a subject matter change. My addtitional comment, "...that a large portion of the local population that have been excommunicated and denied access to the County Hospital that is on our tax rolls."...is also a FACT. If you find these facts and my additional comment negative, then you need to take that up with Boss Hog and his cronies on the hospital board because it's their policy, not mine.

rock - Tuesday, August 10 2010 at 10:28pm

When was the last time that the Bureau of Vital Statistics recorded a certificate of normal birth from Ord, Valley County, Nebraska? Where is it all of these young couples from Ord have gone to have their children? Broken Bow...Kearney...Grand Island...and why?

Shakes - Wednesday, August 11 2010 at 9:43am

My whole point, dumbasarock, was that young people are coming back and doing their part in helping ord grow. My comment had nothing to do with where they are born, but where they are living. Leave it to you to completely miss the point of a positive comment.

Another thing, I do agree with you that it is disappointing that babies aren't delivered here anymore, but at the same time people were going elsewhere before because of the lack of updated facilities INCLUDING a neo-natal intensive care unit. I'm not arguing with you on the hospital, because we all know you are too pig-headed for that to be time well spent, I'm just saying you are cutting the situation in half and using only what suits your argument.

blondbuck - Wednesday, August 11 2010 at 9:48am
